I am HIGHLY impressed that this novel came from a 14 year old author, not only is the plot extremely expansive, with a mystery that totally kept me in suspense, but the characters are highly engaging, while being normal “teens” and the sweet love story, is adorable – love, the puppy dog love! Kieryn Nicolas is going places, this young lady is truly amazing, with a gift of story telling as well as the gift of characterization, I can't wait to see what she comes up with next!

Rain is an adventurous, action-packed story that spans two continents and is told with a refreshingly true teen voice. An impressive debut — keep an eye on Kieryn, folks.

She wove together an absurdly extravagant book. She made the book and its characters so real that the book practically rattled with emotions and you felt them too. It sometimes felt as if it was happening to you.

You'll likely spend the first few chapters of RAIN thinking, "Wait, the author is how old?!" But once you get over your astonishment that, yes, this book was written by an author in her early teens, you'll get too swept up in the story to care. RAIN has great writing and great characters. It's funny, exciting, touching, and altogether a remarkable work.

"Amber (a.k.a. Mel) is a routine-driven, Vitamin C guzzling, pony-tail sporting, and behind-kicking spy. Yet all it takes is a little Rain to soften this hardened young woman. In Rain, Kieryn Nicolas develops clever yet simple symmetry--finding the one you care for most requires finding yourself in the process."

"What impressed me about Kieryn's writing was her ability to create several distinctly different characters that I could care about. I saw her protagonist mature over the course of the story, changing from an up-tight child who equated emotion with weakness to a young woman who was aware of her own failings and vulnerability."

RAIN is an exciting ride. There are break-ins and abductions, narrow
escapes and hand-to-hand combat, as well as baffling mysteries
to solve. But the book also delves into the trials of adolescence:
going to a new school, making new friends, and keeping old
ones. Amber, AKA Mel, spy-girl extraordinaire, is something
special, and so is Kieryn Nicolas, the young author of this
book. You'll be charmed by RAIN and waiting for her next novel.

...Let me introduce you to a glimmer
of hope for the future of books. Her name is Kieryn Nicolas
and she is a fourteen-year-old girl heading into high school.
She is also an author in waiting. Her first novel, RAIN, is
schedule to be published in 2010.
This is a young girl who has been writing for as long as
she can remember. She loves it, she embraces it, and she’s
damn good at it! I met this young lady and her family not
too long ago and I was absolutely astounded by her personality
and her ambition. She is clever, she is vivacious, and yet
a little shy. But best of all, she is determined to succeed.
She loves books and she loves words....

This was an exciting adventure into the land of teen espionage. There were wonderful friendships and relationships throughout the book. I was happy to meet Mel and Ray and was sad to let them go. (Maybe a sequel?) I especially enjoyed the weather connection and the twist at the end. It’s good to know that the teens are ready to save the world! I read it on my Kindle, which just made it more fun. I recommend this as a fun, fast and exciting read.

"I stayed up last night
(way too late) to finish the book. All I can say is--what
an absolutely tremendous book! The plot is complicated, but
the storyline is clear. The characters are brought to life.
They are so well described that you develop an attachment
to or distaste for them. The story is fast-paced and once
you get to a certain point, it is very hard to put down...not
something I say about many books."
